Errikos Kotzakioulafis — Counsellor & Psychotherapist

I’m Errikos Kotzakioulafis, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist providing compassionate, person-centred support in Newcastle upon Tyne.

My Background

I am Errikos Kotzakioulafis, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience, providing compassionate, person-centred integrative support in Newcastle upon Tyne. I offer online sessions as well as in-person counselling in Gosforth.

My journey into counselling and psychotherapy grew from a deep belief that everyone deserves to be heard without judgement. Over the years, I have worked with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety and work-related stress, low mood and depression, relationship difficulties, major life transitions and grief, as well as ADHD and OCD.

I trained in the UK at an accredited institution, developing expertise in integrative therapy. This allows me to draw from multiple therapeutic approaches, including person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This integrative framework means I can adapt our work to your individual needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model.

I also have additional training in trauma-informed counselling and psychotherapy, and in working with stress and anxiety, low mood and depression, life transitions and grief, ADHD and OCD.

At the heart of my work is the belief that the therapeutic relationship forms the foundation for meaningful change. I aim to create a warm, authentic and confidential space where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.

Who I Work With

I work with people of all ages and from all walks of life. I have a particular interest in supporting young people aged 16 and over, including students navigating the pressures of adolescence and early adulthood. I also work with older adults aged 65 and over, recognising the unique challenges and transitions that can arise later in life.

I provide a welcoming and affirming space for LGBTQI+ individuals, understanding the specific experiences that can come with exploring identity, relationships and belonging.

Whether you are seeking short-term support focused on a particular issue, or longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns and experiences, I offer both online sessions and in-person counselling in Gosforth for clients across Newcastle, Jesmond, Gosforth and the wider Tyneside area.

How I Work

My Therapeutic Approach

My approach is fundamentally person-centred, meaning I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide the conditions in which you can explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply, and find your own path forward.

I draw from integrative traditions, which means I can incorporate elements from different therapeutic approaches depending on what might be most helpful for you. This might include:

  • Person-centred therapy for building self-acceptance
  • Psychodynamic exploration of past experiences
  • Cognitive approaches for understanding thought patterns
  • Mindfulness and body-awareness techniques

Above all, I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is the foundation for change. I strive to create a warm, authentic connection where you feel safe to be fully yourself.
